Diabetes Awareness and Community Screening

Eden Charity Foundation’s community health outreach, held in Keffi reached **200 participants (including Adults and children)** with blood glucose and blood pressure screening, health education and nutritional counselling. Our reported findings indicated that **approximately 40% of participants had blood glucose readings suggestive of prediabetes**, while **approximately 10% were already living with diabetes**. Screening readings were treated as preliminary findings rather than confirmed diagnoses. Participants with elevated readings were advised to seek further assessment and confirmatory testing at a healthcare facility. Those already living with diabetes were encouraged to continue clinical care and regular monitoring. Beyond the screening, we provided follow-up support through nutritional and dietary guidance. This focused on practical food choices, portion control, reducing sugary drinks and building sustainable eating habits using familiar, locally available foods. We also reinforced the importance of physical activity, blood glucose monitoring and attending recommended clinical appointments. The outreach combined early identification, referral advice and continued lifestyle support to help participants take informed steps towards better health.
